Macleod College Grade 5/6 students loved meeting Davide today and really engaged with his stories.
Thanks to Wilkins Farago for making it possible.
So glad you enjoyed having him, Sue!
As a Literacy consultant for Sydney Region DEC I was lucky enough to have Davide attend and speak at an afternoon project. Our project is called Literature and Coffee. It is held at our local children’s bookstore Bloomin Books. We engage in a professional reading and some quality dialogue whilst enjoying coffee and cake. We then share presentations of best practice lessons around quality picture books presented to us each term by Kate. It is a wonderful project to be involved in and it was made so much more special this term as we had Davide as our guest speaker. To hear his stories, view his books and gain insight into the way he chooses what to write about and what illustrator he thinks matches his ideas was fantastic and gave us so many ideas and new resources to take back into our classrooms. We actually needed more books as we were all so inspired. I know, I for one, will definitely take this quality literature into my schools and I am sure it will be to the benefit of our Sydney region students. Thanks so much to both Davide and to Andrew from Wilkins Farago. Therese
